Enjoy your blind-folded life

Didn’t you see the silver-haired lady in her wheelchair, asking timidly, for your help getting items from the top grocery store shelf?

Didn’t you see the cold, raggedly clothed man on the side of the road thumbing for a ride?

Didn’t you see the trash covering acres and acres of what was once a beautiful country?

Didn’t you see the teenager with deep depression and apathy in his eyes, silently pleading for hope?

Didn’t you see the abandoned, crumbling homes of lives past?

Didn’t you see the fast-moving, peculiarly dressed woman, muttering aggressively to herself?

Didn’t you see the dreary-eyed mom with a drink in one hand and a smoke in the other, screaming at her terrified kid?

Didn’t you see the commercial on TV, with the hollow-eyed naked child, saying ‘for the price of coffee you can feed me’?

Didn’t you see the news reports of the atrocities of terror, rape, murder, and destruction being committed on behalf of a ‘benevolent’ dictator?

You didn’t see that?

Maybe you did but thought, someone else will take care of it.

Someone else who has more time, who knows what to do, who has more money, who has more brains, who has better health, who isn’t as busy as you…

There is no one better than you.
